Hey, I'm Greg Goodson. I graduated from Georgia Tech in 2006 with a degree in Business Management. I worked on search engine marketing and comparison shopping accounts at 360i and Backcountry.com before concentrating on Sawtooth Media full time.
Now that I'm back in Atlanta, I'm focusing my time on my search engine marketing consulting work at Sawtooth Media, as well as some independent entrepreneurial projects.
My Business Background
I graduated from the College of Management at Georgia Tech in 2006 with certificates in Marketing and Operations Management. Having only poked around in the SEM landscape in college with several personal Google Adwords accounts, I was thrown into the web marketing industry when my career started at a leading digital agency named 360i in Atlanta, GA. I worked at 360i in 2007 and 2008, learning the ropes of SEM and SEO, while working on large complex search marketing accounts to the likes of Turner Broadcasting, Cox Communications, Office Depot, Holland America, and Alamo Rental Car.
Fortune 500 companies were shifting more and more budget towards the web. With the realization that SMBs would benefit just as much with a strong web presence as large companies do, I started Sawtooth Media in 2007 focusing on SMBs. In 2008, I was offered a position on the search engine marketing team at online retailer giant Backcountry.com, a company with over 500 employees and over $250MM annual revenue. I decided to take advantage of the opportunity, packed up, and relocated to the beautiful resort town of Park City, UT. During my time at Backcountry, I managed SEM strategies across 11 retail websites on a team of 3 other SEM managers. I also was introduced to the world of comparison shopping engine marketing. During my tenure at Backcountry, I took charge of the CSE program manager role, showing 70% revenue gains year over year.
In April 2010, I decided to leave Backcountry.com to pursue my dream of working for myself. I’m an entrepreneur at heart. Since leaving the ‘real world’, I’ve relocated back to Atlanta, and have recently moved again, now hailing from Boulder, CO. I take great pride in the work that I do. I look forward to working with you and showing you how internet marketing can open new opportunities for your business.
My Personal Background
My favorite hobbies outside of work include ultra-running, playing bluegrass guitar, and entrepreneurship. Right now, I’m engaged as the co-founder in a startup named Rafflecopter. I’ve run about 35 marathons and ultra-marathons since I started running long distances in 2004, with my longest race to date being 100K (about 62 miles). I’m especially proud of qualifying for the Boston Marathon during my performance at Snickers Albany Marathon in 2008, when I ran a 3:08:59 for 26.2 miles. When I’m not running, I enjoy pickin’ and singin’ a tune with my guitar Wolcott, a ’92 Taylor 710LTD with a tone and voice like no other guitar you’ve ever heard.
